And it works amazingly with the iPhone. Deleting messages on the phone moves them to a new label called DeletedMessages.
It’s 90% – now I just want some way of archiving messages and my life is complete.

I think that just moving the message to [Gmail] -> All Mail works the same as archiving. Seems to do it for me at least!

It seems that if you move it to any of the folders, it'll archive it and apply that label.

How do I enable it? I can't find anything on the GMail help pages... I really really really want this!

I've just been using mobile.google.com 's version of gmail. It supports archiving.

It'd be nice if deleting the message archived it in gmail.
